#Winning Wednesday 5

Welcome back to #Winning Wednesday! Here are a few of my favorite things during this week of epic marathon recovery.

1. All of you!

Thank you to everyone who commented on my race recap post and on social media with such beautiful words of support. Some of you almost made me cry – and this girl is not your typical happy crier. You guys are amazing and are a constant reminder of why I love writing this blog.

2. My Panthers

I stayed up past my bedtime watching the Panthers play Monday Night Football with friends and beer. I am so proud of my team for beating the New England Patriots in a close game and locking in a 7-3 record for the season so far. The Panthers have had a lot of rough seasons and I am excited for this year and the next several years to be the ones where I get to say I was a Panthers fan before it was cool.

3. Sleeping in

Despite my late night mentioned previously, you better believe this girl has been sleeping A LOT since Saturday. I have a backlog of unused sick and vacation days so I took Monday off of work as a marathon recovery day. I slept from sometime around 8 PM on Sunday until after 10 AM on Monday. No shame. And, because I have been taking a lot of rest days this week, I have also been sleeping in well past my usual workout alarms since returning to work. As much sleep as I think I am getting, I still somehow find myself exhausted at the end of the day so it is pretty obvious my body is still recuperating.

Seeing how late I can possibly sleep while still making it to work on time.

4. More decent race pictures?!

I got an email informing me that race pictures were posted and I unenthusiastically took a look at mine, assuming that they would only reflect my pain. The only time during the race I actually noticed the professional photographers were the miles that I was taking a serious ride on the struggle bus.  But much to my surprise there were a few that I liked.

Marathon 2

But to keep things balanced and fair, here is one where I look like I am on the verge of tears.

5. This photo of Jeremy and my dad putting Juneau into a cannon

This was taken after the race. I don’t recall whose idea it was but I’m more than a little glad it happened. Juneau, obviously, wasn’t thrilled. Don’t freak out though people, no American Eskimos were fired out of cannons or in any way harmed in the making of this photo.
